The Day I Threw Away Caroline's Retainers

The Day I Threw Away Caroline's Retainers

I was in 5th grade at the Math party. It was a sunny day outside and everyone was happy. We were celebrating our domination in the Math tournament. Canton South took most of the awards. This was a party after school with my two favorite teachers at the time, Mr. Boldizar and Mr. Lawver. I sat at the table closest to the door with Caroline, Casey, and Livi. We ate pizza drank pop and had a good time. (Caroline did not drink any pop because she despises the taste of it.) Caroline had to take her retainers out to eat and I did not want to look at them while I was enjoying my pizza. To fix that, I wrapped them up in a napkin so I could eat. After that, everyone went into the gym to play dodge ball. About halfway through the game, Caroline realized she didn't have her retainers in. She left the gym and went back to the classroom. Minutes later she came running back shouting about how her retainers were gone. She was freaking out. I went back to the classroom with her, we realized someone cleaned them up because they must have thought it was food in that napkin. Caroline got very sad because she knew how much they cost her parents. I was feeling really bad because it was my fault they were missing. Mr. Boldizar and Mr. Lawver came back in the room to help look. They searched through all of the trash cans without gloves and opened every napkin to find her retainers. We were in 5th grade so we really didn't do much to help. Eventually, they found it and Caroline was so happy. She forgave me for losing her retainers even though it was such a big deal. From then on, she never let me wrap up her retainers.
